Continuing the coastline avenue,we will pass through VARKIZA-ANAVISOS-with the fish taverns & the fresh fishes & we will reach at Cape Sounio,where the Temple of POSSEIDON commands the whole area.
The existing Temple was built between 444 and 440 BC on the ancient remains of a Temple to Posseidon,which was destroyed during the war between Greeks and Perses in 490 BC. Don’t forget to enjoy the most beautiful sunset in Greece, as the sun is sinking in the plue waters of Saronic Gulf.
